Madame de Pomp

  • Jan. 6th, 2010 at 2:20 PM
COSTUMING PEEPS-
You guys, where can I get some non-scratchy wide lace to use for the sleeve flounces on an 18th century gown? I hate the stuff I used for my Lia red gown and I want something softer for my Madame de Pompadour. Doesn't have to be a perfect match, but something pretty and soft. I'll probably need to go downtown at some point, but I thought I'd look online first if you guys have any suggestions.

RE: MARKER TUTORIAL. I found my FLIP camera, so I guess I can put it on my gorillapod? (... hmm... wonder where I put that...) so when I'm not all sarsy anymore, I'll do that!

Still dizzy, but I'm feeling better and my brain is functioning, which is nice. I hate feeling useless! For a few days there I couldn't concentrate, read or draw, which is pretty irritating. Anyway, on the way up, I guess, thanks for the well wishes, you guys!

New PT fan... and a question...

  • Jan. 6th, 2010 at 6:55 PM
Hi, I'm Bia, and I've recently became a Princess Tutu fan. I'm a big Ahiru/Mytho fan, and a Mytho fan too (He's so friggin' hot! Especially in pantsless mode! Mmmmmm~), so I wonder which one was the episode where he is shown naked with only a blanket to cover him?

Avatar seasons cheap :D

  • Jan. 6th, 2010 at 3:03 PM
At least in canada (for once?)!

iTunes is selling nickelodean shows for 14.99$ a season. I'm thinking I'll do it and just burn it off for watching on my tv. It's not as fun as having the set, but it's less than a third of the local price in Newfoundland (59.99-89.99).

Just thought I'd offer a heads up to anybody else... if this is against community rules, sorry, I'm just trying to spread the avatar love!

I'm here

Sorry about the last entry. As the subject says "Mike Echo Bravo Echo India November Golf Sierra India Lima Lima Yankee" (Me being silly).

I know I haven't updated much since Christmas and all I can say is things have been a bit hectic. We ended up opening presents three different times (a different location each time) on Christmas day. We started out at our house with Gavin getting up a little before seven. He came in our room and the first words out of his mouth were "Santa brought me the Dalmatian puppy!" Not a peep about his bike that was right behind it. *LOL*

After presents at our house we headed over to the In Laws for round two as well as brunch of steak and eggs. We didn't stay too long because Nate had to get ready for work and we still had to head on to our last stop...my parents. My parents knew we were coming in, however we didn't tell my brother and his family that we would be coming.

Originally we were going to go over early in the week, but there was no one to watch Zander so we couldn't. When I heard how sad Shannon was when she found out I started plotting. I checked with hubby to be sure he was okay with it, then hatched the plan with Mom and Dad.

Needless to say when Piet, Shannon and the girls came over about an hour or so after we got there there was much happy squealing to be heard. After a light dinner it was round three for presents.

We all got lots of things off the lists we gave family members so nothing to be frumpy about there. Piet reminded us of the sale that was going on at his game store and we ended up picking up six new video games (it was a buy 2 used, get 1 used free sale). I'm really enjoying one of the games we picked up and actually need to get back into it. It's called Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Lots of brain teasers. Might see about picking up the sequel at some point.

We came home Sunday because hubby had to be back at work on Monday night so he needed a little time to swap back to nights.

New Years eve was lonely for me, as hubby was driving a friend (and her son) from high school over to Jacksonville to meet up with another friend of hers who was driving them back home to Virginia. It was not a fun way to spend a double anniversary (started dating/got engaged on) and I had a brief flash of the same thing happening next year. Gods I hope not.

Hubby and I realized we needed to talk about some things and finally took some time to start the much needed discussion. We still have more to talk about and I wouldn't mind if we found a marriage councilor to go to, as it could probably help. Hubby's wary about that because he grew up with a family that kept family problems a secret within the immediate family. We have to figure out why somethings have gotten the way they are and see what can/needs be done.

Two Mytho/Rue fics

  • Jan. 5th, 2010 at 10:16 PM
Yo.  I think this is my first post here, though I've been around for two years or something ridiculous like that.  Anyway, I'm Kaili, and you're a bunch of cool people, and that's that.

Now, then.  I bring you two fics, which I gave [info]nuitsongeur  as gifts for the SS Exchange.  Though, one was actually written way back in October and has already been seen by a couple of you.  When I realized that I wasn't going to finish my intended gift by the time I said I would, I gave it to her as a placeholder.  But now both fics are done, the Santas have been revealed, and I thought I'd share my stuff with you.

... And neither of the fics have titles, because I fail.  But here they are anyway.  Follow the links to my journal.  They're in separate entries, sorry.

1st fic
Pairing: Mytho/Rue
Length: 344 words
Rating: M -- As in MATURE, as in I've warned you, as in please don't complain if you read the smut and didn't want to.
Fic: Sometimes Rue is surprised by the changes in her Prince.

2nd fic
Pairing: Mytho/Rue
Rating: K+?
Length: 531
Fic: There was a difference in his actions, but it wasn't speed.

I'm at a crossroads with my Disney career right now. I'm still stuck in Fantasyland attractions (yay, button pushing...) and have been debating the pros of cons of either transferring to another department (characters) or moving to westside attractions. Namely Adventureland attractions since I know I would make a dandy Jungle Cruiser skipper. >=) Hell, when I worked on the Columbia sailing ship I turned it *into* a giant Jungle Cruise, or so my co-castmembers used to say. Ah, fond memories of Pokey the lobster, grey poupon jokes, yelling "Look, it's a drunk centipede!" at a passing canoe over the ship's PA system and getting all 210 tourists on board to yell ARRRGH and shake their fists at every single person we saw on the shore. Heheh. Then there was the 'martha the pet duck' incident...

If I go to the character dept it'll be a whole new shindig with lots of paperwork and training to get out of the way. I'll also go to the bottom rung of seniority all over again, as is standard practice.

Either way I'll lose some seniority. It will also endanger my vacation in Feb since the scheduling request for that week off will probably go poof when the transfer happens. I would only have to re-submit but that may not leave me enough time to make the deadline. Regardless, I'm very restless where I am and I want to find my finalized niche in the company. My assets as a castmember come to bear at their utmost when I'm in a role that makes a storyteller out of me and requires some acting. All I really do now is push buttons and lock lapbars. :( Secondly, my orthopedist has suggested that I get away from those buttons and lapbars since it causes occasional flareups of my old nemesis, Dequervain's tenosynovitis. I've gone through surgery and a lot of physical therapy/cortisone shots to correct it and I'm not keen on going through it again. There are plenty of attractions in the westside that have no lapbars and little to no buttons. Jungle Cruise is one of them.

I guess I'm just venting here. The transfer process is rather tedious and calls for a lot of hoop jumping (yes, even if I'm just moving within the same department) and I don't look forward to it. I want it over with ASAP but common sense is telling me to wait until after my family vacation in Feb. Decisions decisions...

Thoughts on "The Princess and the Frog"

Before I get to my musings on Disney’s latest, I’m going to announce the winner of IPC’s first trivia contest, which illness prevented me from doing last week. Our winner is markwilliamsjr, who correctly identified “Love” from Robin Hood as the song in Fantastic Mr. Fox that makes reference to another animated film with foxes in the starring roles. Check at the end of today’s article for a new trivia challenge.

It’s no secret that I’ve been looking forward to The Princess and the Frog. Disney movies were what got me interested in animation in the first place and I have eagerly anticipated the studios return to their roots with a new hand-drawn feature. Plus, it felt pretty good to know that many more little girls would soon have a Disney princess who looked like them. But as the release date drew near, I was feeling conflicted. I liked a lot of what I was hearing about the film, but most of the trailers I had seen weren’t quite winning me over. I wanted the film to succeed and prove that hand-drawn feature films could still be successful. But at the same time, I worried that the film was going to be bogged down with unappealing sidekicks and suffer from all the same mistakes as the films that led to Disney kicking traditional animation to the curb. So when my husband and I finally found the time to see the movie, I was both excited and worried. Happily, the film soon put my fears to rest and gave me hope that Disney was really coming back.

Disney goes back to its roots after the cut. )

Late Secret Santas & Pinch Hitters!

Looks like we will need pinch hitters to step up and fill in the gaps.
[info]asatira and I will be contacting people to find out the status of missing gifts to determmine how many people we need Pinch Hitters to fill in for, and we'll put a call out once we have a solid response. In general, if you have not created a gift for someone, I am not going to request a Pinch Hitter to create a gift for you. No freebies.

If you can shoot one of us a note/comment before we get around to contacting you, please do. We're looking for an update on the status of your gift creation and by when you think you can have a gift done, if at all. Once we shoot you a PM, we will be looking for a response within 48 hours of that--if we don't hear from you by then, we will assume you have dropped out entirely.

I've linked the surveys for those still in need of gifts, so if you are still willing to pinch hit, comment here.
If there is a specific un-gifted Secret Santa you'd be willing to create a gift for, please mention it when commenting.

If you become a volunteer Pinch Hitter, please try to create your gift within a week of receiving the PH assignment. Deliver it (no need to be anonymous) by posting it in a comment on the Gift Exchange post. (You can use other methods of delivery if you wish, just let me know once you do so that I can update the Archive post.) If you can't Pinch Hit after all or want a different PH assignment, just let me know. Thank you guys!

RP from 07?

  • Jan. 5th, 2010 at 12:05 AM
Sup, Avatar community? My question is for the members who have been around here for a while. Waaaay back in the summer of 2007( I think. lol) there was an Avatar AU RP here on LJ. My memories are a bit fuzzy since it's been a few years, but here's what I can remember: the pairings were canon(Kataang, Sukka, Maiko, etc.), each character had their own lj account created especialy for the rp, everyone had last names, Sokka was totally awesome and was a comic nerd, aaand I'm pretty sure Zuko had glasses. lol I'm not even going to try touching on main events since two years of random fic and such is muddling my memory... :B

It's just been bugging me for the past few weeks! I remember I was really into it, but I guess I didn't add anything to my memories, 'cause I can't find it anywhere. I hope it all wasn't deleted.

Zing! lol

Ty Lee + Sokka sketchdump

This sketchdump has sexual themes and is probably NOT WORKSAFE.

(Click sexy Sokka to see full pic)

Bet none of you expected this from me. Yamino drew a non-lesbian couple! The world must be coming to an end or something! Actually, I really love this pairing. It's so cute. (And sexy. <3) I don't know what it is about Sokka, but he's the hottest fictional guy I know. >_>

I don't know if it's his ponytail or his tan skin with blue eys... there's just SOMETHING ABOUT SOKKA.

...Ty Lee is still my favorite forever, though. XD

SIDENOTE: "The Proposal" (with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds) was actually pretty cute you guys. (even though Sandra, my love, needs a sandwich) Ryan Reynolds is actually kind of awesome (I love his reactions to stuff, great facial acting) so apparently I need to see more movies with him in it cause he was awesome in Wolverine, too. Suggestions welcome. Also. I L U, BETTY WHITE.

Calling In Sick

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 6:45 PM
I am unwell, beloveds. This week's update will be at least a day late because of it. This really really sucks and I'm sorry. I try to never let updates be late if they contain paid-for bonus pages, and I will be paying it forward with another extra page next week (so 4 total) as a way of making it up to the donors.

I was feeling all awesome, too, plowing through my workload (until I hit the 'fine motor skills' department...)

BOO HISS LUKA. And boo hiss medication side effects, while we're at it. Tremors suck ass.

ETA: There should be a big batch of #1s in Wednesday's mail, and I will post when the time comes and let you all know the timestamp of the last processed order, so those of you who paid before that time will know your stuff should be on the way.
